Il Bacio is a house in the old town of Laterza, on one of the stone alleys of the village, its walls lime-washed white. It is set over two floors, with original stone vaults and arches and a kitchen tiled in the blue and white majolica the town is known for.
The terrace is what people remember: it looks out over the terracotta rooftops and down towards the canyon, and while you are here it is yours alone — somewhere to start the day slowly, or to sit in the evening and watch the town.
The apartment has a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower and toiletries, air conditioning and a TV. A few minutes on foot bring you to Palazzo Marchesale and the Majolica Museum, the potters' workshops and the ovens where the bread of Laterza is still baked.

Wrought-iron furniture, hydrangeas and a parasol that filters the afternoon light. Beyond the railing, the terracotta rooftops of the old town drop away towards the canyon: the right place for coffee in the morning, or for sunset with the breeze rising off the rock.
